

He was born on May 17, 1943 in Jackson, to the late Herbert and Cora Spain Knott. He was a generous and loving father, an annointed pastor beloved by many, and a veteran of the US Airforce. His ministry was very important to him and was birthed out of the legacy impact his grandfather Walter Spain created. Even though Sam retired from the ministry over 29 years ago, the fruit of his faithfulness to God and others continues to live on today in the lives of all he touched.
In addition to his parents and brother Billy Knott, he was preceded in death by his wife Connie Jean Sorensen Knott and her son Mark Wessel.
He is survived by his sons, Chris (Celeste) and Brandon (Ashley), his step-children Tammy Korshak, Wendy (Moe) Korshak, and Matt (Molly) Wessel, his sister-in-law Billie Ann Knott, his neices Robin Joyner and Summer (Duane) Dollar and their families. He also leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons in Jackson, TN. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with entombment following in the mausoleum at Highland Memorial Gardens.
