She was born on December 24, 1935 in Decaturville, TN to the late Fleetwood and Vannie Rogers Hamm. She moved to Jackson in 1963. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church when she passed from this life to the next. She had been a Sunday School teacher, worked with the children and youth for many years, and worked with the adult choir at several different churches she had been a member of over the years. She was past President and lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary, Post 6496, Airways, Jackson. She also served as President of the Ruritans in Hardin County. Sue was a friend and confidant to many who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Shannon, and son, Michael Shannon.
She is survived by her girls, Suzette Hagood Jones (Billy) of Lexington, TN, Vicki K. Hagood of Hernando, MS, Lisa Shannon Strom (Chris) of Jacksonville, FL, and Allyson Shannon Gibbs (Steve) of Bowling Green, KY; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and loved ones at a visitation to be held on Saturday afternoon, June 30, 2018 from 1-3 p.m. in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons.
The funeral service is to be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon with interment to follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Madison County.
