
Wilfred Lee Green Sr. "Bodie" died on 12/4/15 after living a blessed and full life. He was born in Prentiss County, MS on 6/23/29 to Minnie Bell Moore Green and Walter Green. He was proceeded in death by his dear wife of sixty years, Helen Lorraine Sanderson Green, a brother, Walter Randall Green, and two sisters, "Nicky" Green Gill and Daisye Green Stephenson. He is survived by a sister, Thelma Dell Green Kanavel of Seminole, FL, a son, Wilfred "Fred" Lee Green Jr. and wife Shearye of Little Rock, AR, and two daughters from Jackson, TN, Jeannie Lorraine Green Tignor and husband Alan and Laura Beth Green Bozza and husband Billy. He is also survived by seven loving grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He served in the National Guard and in active duty at Fort Jackson, SC. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1990 and was a local business owner until retiring for good in 2004.
After being saved as a teenager, he was a faithful follower of Christ all of his life and served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Poplar Heights Baptist and Grace Baptist churches.
An avid sportsman in many sports, he was also a life-long fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Celtics, Green Bay Packers, and the Tennessee Lady Vols and UT Football. He loved the outdoors and was actively involved in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren's lives.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Sunday, December 6th followed by a funeral service at 11 AM on Monday, December 7th with the Rev. John Hatley officiating. The family suggests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers.
