William David Sanderson

Funeral services for William David Sanderson of Jackson, age 85, will be held Monday, July 19, 2010 at 11:00 AM at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Bro. John Hatley, pastor of Grace Baptist Church of Jackson, will be officiating.

Mr. Sanderson passed away on Friday, July 16, 2010 at Morningside Assisted Living after a long illness. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a member of Grace Baptist Church of Jackson. He was born in Milledgeville, TN on July 26, 1924 and was raised in McNairy and Madison Counties. Mr. Sanderson attended Saltillo High School and West Tennessee Business College. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was retired with Tennessee Valley Authority.

Mr. Sanderson was preceded in death by his wife, Loreda Jackson Sanderson, his parents, William H. and Ethel Moore Sanderson, one brother, Freeman Sanderson, three sisters, Earle Irene Sanderson, Opal Finley and Dorothy Kirby and one step granddaughter, Lisa Reeves.

He is survived by his children, Diane Collins and husband Richard, Larry Sanderson and wife Carla, all of Jackson; five grandsons, Chris Presson, Joel Presson, both of Jackson, Clayton Sanderson of Nashville, Cody Sanderson and Cullen Sanderson, both of Jackson; one great grandson, Layne Presson; one step granddaughter, Cindy Collins, three step great grandchildren, T.J. Reeves, Shelby Maness and Madison Reeves and one step great, great grandchild, Hayden Reeves, all of Jackson; four sisters, Edna Meadows of Ripley and Loraine (Bodie) Green, Laverne Sipes and Betty (James Ed) Hubbell, all of Jackson.

The family wishes to acknowledge with special thanks a team of faithful sitters, Sandra Scott, Lori Montgomery, Lawanda Pirtle, Dawn Brasher, Sade Gardner, Michael Newbern and Loretta Champion, the staff at Morningside Assisted Living for all their special care and concerns and the helpful services of West Tennessee Healthcare Hospice through Judy Haskins, Beverly Williamson, Melissa Reynolds and Kevin Mercer.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Sanderson grandsons, Chris, Joel and Layne (Honorary) Presson, Clayton, Cody and Cullen Sanderson and nephews Steve Meadows and Eddie Sumler.

Visitation with the family will be held Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the North Chapel.
