Albert Adrian Marchant, peacefully passed away at home, Sunday, December 6th, 2015. He was born August 15, 1938 in Athens, Georgia to Albert A. and Grace E. Marchant, but moved to Florida as a child. A graduate of Lee High School and Florida State University, he was a proud supporter of “his” Seminoles and a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He served as an Army officer in Vietnam, earning a Purple Heart and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. On his return home, he worked with the Central Intelligence Agency and later entered the real estate business in Jacksonville, continuing until he retired in 2014. He was a 25 year member and past president of the Jacksonville Exchange Club.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Grace Prescott; his “double-first” cousins, George Oltmann (Jackie), Daniel Oltmann, Anna Dantzler (James), Grace Beaudrot (Larry), and Dan and Lynda Marchant.
A memorial service will held at 3pm on Thursday, December 10th at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida. The inurnment service will be held at a later date in Jacksonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the Exchange Club Family Center, 3119 Spring Glen Rd #111, Jacksonville, Florida 32207, would be most appreciated.
