

McKENNEY......Alma Brown McKenney, age 81, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013. She was born April 19, 1931, in Wildwood, New Jersey, to the late May Applegate Brown and Harry Raymond Brown. She was predeceased by her sisters, Ruth Timmreck and Marion Hoffman; her brother, Raymond, and a brother who died in infancy. The early years of her life were spent in the Cape May area of New Jersey. At the age of eighteen she married her late husband, William Franklin McKenney, and moved to Florida where she spent the rest of her years. She was the loving mother of three daughters, Tortesa Livick (Albert, deceased), Lona Pitts (Larry) and Billie Sue Alverson (Rick) and was the loving grandmother of three grandchildren, Larry (Miryung), Thomas and Wesley. Because of her thoughtful, kind and considerate nature, she will be greatly missed by all her family members and friends, including her nephews and nieces who loved her as a second mother. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 16, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd, Jacksonville, FL, with Dr. M. Keith Foskey presiding. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 15, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd, Jacksonville, FL. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Memorial Hospital and Alma’s attending physicians for their compassion and support during these past six months.
