Alvin Douglas Ellis, 80, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011. Mr. Ellis was a native and lifelong resident of Jacksonville and had retired as a Merchant Marine. He is survived by his wife, Linda Ellis; two step children, Timothy Mullis (Dianne) and Patricia Higginbotham (Glen); his friend, Craig Cochran (Jerry), other loving family and dear friends. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 19, at Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 N. Main Street (Gate #6), with Dr. Ron Rowe officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday (TODAY) at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Avenue.
