

Anthony Donulus Hansen (Don) finished his work on this earth on April 30, 2015. Born in Custer, Michigan on August 24, 1915 to Coresta Canfield Fey and his father, Anthony Charles Hansen. He was one of three children: a sister, Geraldine Verrita (Doe) and a brother, William James. Moving to Chicago around six years of age he held many jobs including walking the polo ponies at a nearby track. He also learned to swim so well that he was offered a college scholarship although he couldn’t accept it. As a young adult he worked for Shultz Biscuit Company and soon married the love of his life, Algena Madeline Cathcart in 1937. In 1946 he bought his father’s business, named it Q.T. Brands and located it to the south side of Chicago. With their five children the family moved to Munster, Indiana in 1959. Retiring in 1977 to Florida to a wonderful life of golf with his children and grandchildren: going to spring training baseball games: parties with family and friends: enjoying letter writing to his grandchildren: entertaining and loving every minute of talking to away relatives: having fun whenever and wherever he could. The love of his wife of 76 years and the love of his family was most in his thoughts and prayers always. He leaves two daughters, Barbara (Joe) McCourt, Donna Jean (Morris) Watson and three sons, Chuck (Shirley), Bill (Cathy), and John (Diane) as well as 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 9 at 2:30pm at San Jose Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to San Jose Catholic Church, Jacksonville, FL or the Senior center of Mandarin, FL.
