Armando was born in Havana Cuba to Armando Roces and Generosa Santamarina. He had one sibling, an older sister, Maeta. Armando attended La Salle Jesuit School in Havana, Cuba, from elementary to High School. He also attended the New York Military Academy. He enrolled in Medical School at the University of Havana but dropped out after a visit to the pathology lab. As a young man he was very much involved in sports playing basketball, polo, and was a rowing champion in Cuba.

In Cuba Armando was a rancher/ farmer. In the United States he worked in sales for many years for Sears Roebuck and Company. He had many interests such as fishing, boating. He would take his children waterskiing every weekend with the Cubans from Pittman Drive. He had lifelong friends with whom he traveled and enjoyed life.

He is predeceased by his parents, Armando Roces and Generosa Santamarina, his sister, Maeta, first wife Georgina Collazo Mestre de Roces, daughter in law Vivian Delice Roces, and step granddaughter Natalie Shea. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Virginia Marie Roces, his children Isabel McCormick, Georgina Roces Crago ( Dan), Armando Roces, Annette Roces, grandchildren Robert McCormick, Cristina Duncan (Eric), Victoria Washburn (Paul), Javier Roces ( Cortlandt) , Luis Roces, Tony Manning ( Megumi), and Mitchell Manning, his great great grandchildren Connor, Eleanor, Arthur, Frances, Isabel, and Mia. He is also survived by his Stepchildren Tracey Williamson (Mike), Shawn McFarland ( Eileen), Jennifer Shea, Wynn Henderson ( Deborah), step grandchildren Dylan Williamson, Patrick Williamson, Jo McFarland, Maggie McFarland, Jack Shea, Lucy Shea, Ryan McFarland.

A mass of christian burial for Armando will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Basilica of The Immaculate Conception, 121 E Duval St, Jacksonville, FL 32202.
