Barbara "Bobbie" Louise Colvin, Age 90, of Middleburg, FL was born in Miami, Florida on October 19, 1934, to Claude Thomas Ball and Lillian Elizabeth Ball. She met and fell in love with Clarence Eugene "Gene" Colvin while she was working at a family-owned general store and sandwich shop in downtown Jacksonville. The shop was a lunchtime staple among construction workers and railroad men, and Gene and his brothers frequented it often. His visits became even more regular once he met Bobbie. After her father hired Gene to make several picnic tables to accommodate the lunch crowd, they fell in love and eventually married in Jacksonville on December 22, 1950.
Bobbie was a wonderful cook and she will be remembered fondly for her love of her family, her affinity for good food and her porch swing, and her eagerness to show hospitality to anyone at any time. Throughout every season of her life, her charming demeanor never wavered. She was a member of First Coast Baptist Church where she was especially fond of the hymn singing in her Sunday School class.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Clarence Eugene Colvin; her daughter, Connie Elaine Dimmick; her parents Claude Thomas Ball and Lillian Elizabeth Ball; and her grandparents, Martin Preston Ball, Eula Webb Ball, and Mr. and Mrs. James Madison Dudley.
