Barbara Cochran Griffin went to be with the Lord on December 29, 2014. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida, December 12, 1930 and attended Landon High school. She was a Landon Lionett and graduated in 1948. She then went on to Florida State University and graduated. In 1955 she married Fred Lorraine, a Captain in the United States Air Force. They had two sons, Bruce Kessler and Brian Keith. Barbara moved back to Jacksonville in 1964 after Fred's plane was shot down over east Germany by the Russians. In 1966 she married Dr. James Lamar Griffin and had 48 wonderful years traveling the world and enjoying sunsets at the beach. Barbara was an avid reader and never missed playing Bridge with her friends on Thursdays. She is survived by her husband Jim, her sons Bruce and Brian, her grandchildren Johnathon, Mariah, Katie and Stephanie, and her great grandchildern Aaden, Aria, Donovan and Genevieve. She will be missed by all who loved her. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at eleven o’clock in the morning at South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, with the Reverend Stephen Kolderup officiating. A private burial will be held in Oaklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Griffin’s memory to a charity of your choice.
