

She was a Jacksonville, Florida native, 2nd child born to George and Marie Bruck on May 11,
1933. Barbara graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1951, where she was a cohead Majorette. She briefly attended Florida State University, and later FCCJ, where she would earn an AA. In 1951, she also married her high school sweetheart Kirkland Alderman, who would predecease her in 1970. Before his death, she was employed for several years as the secretary of Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church. She later worked as an executive secretary at St. Regis Paper Company. In 1979, she married Palmer Hall and become the co-owner of Palmer Hall Floors. Barbara loved Jacksonville, most especially the San Marco neighborhood. Shortly after its formation, Barbara became an active member of the San Marco Preservation Society. For many years she volunteered her time earning the title of Director Emeritus in 2005 in recognition of her dedication and service for nearly 20 years. She especially enjoyed her role as the Committee Chairperson of Preservation Hall, overseeing the care and maintenance of the facility.
She and Palmer were fans of the FSU Seminoles and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
After Palmer’s death in 1999, along with the help of her children, she continued the family business tradition of providing quality flooring services, until her retirement and the close of the business in 2006. Upon retiring, she continued engaging her passion for gardening as a member of the San Marco Garden Circle and became a University of Florida Master Gardener. In her later years, she was married to Pat Elmore. A woman of the Christian faith, she grew up in Main Street Baptist Church, raised her children in Murray Hill Baptist Church and Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church. Later she joined St. Matthews Lutheran
Church in Arlington and then St. Andrews Lutheran By-the Sea when she moved from her beloved home in San Marco to Cypress Village where she made many new friends.
Survivors include her four children, The Rev. Ann Marie Alderman (Robin) of West Orange, New Jersey, David Wayne Alderman of Owasso, Oklahoma, Susan Ruth Alderman of Jacksonville, Florida, Kittie Hall France (Scott) of Athens, Alabama, and grandchildren Jessica, Amanda, Kate, Jenny, Ella, Kirk and Benjamin, and to date six great-grandchildren.
The family will celebrate her life during an upcoming private gathering and ask that you plant a flower in her memory.
