Barbara Brunhilde Mogensen (neé Wippich) passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida surrounded by her friends. She was born on January 26, 1941 to Aloisius and Cácilia Wippich in East Prussia. A longtime resident of Jacksonville, FL, Barbara lived a fulfilling life dedicated to her family, her faith, and her community. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures and loved to swim and travel. A devoted member of Assumption Catholic Church, her passion for connection and community was evident in every part of her life. Barbara was a devoted wife, loving mother, and loyal friend. She fully embraced life, through both its joys and challenges. Her warmth, kindness, and generosity left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Barbara was predeceased by the love of her life, Niels Mogensen, and by her greatest joy, daughter Brigit Mogensen.
She is survived by her stepson, Niels, Jr. and two cousins in Germany, Brigitte Krúmmheúer and Werner Sommerfeld.
A graveside service will be held at 10 am, Tuesday June 10, 2024 at Oaklawn Cemetery. 4801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville.
In memory of Barbara, memorial contributions may be made to Assumption Catholic Church or your local women’s shelter in honor of her legacy of compassion and service. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
