

WOLFE.......Ben E. Wolfe, a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, passed away on July 24, 2012. Ben was born on October 2, l923, to Frank and Elspeth Wolfe and attended Andrew Jackson High School. He was drafted into the US Army in 1943 and served three years in the European theater during World War II. Ben returned home and became a buyer for the A&P Tea Company for 30 years, then worked as a realtor with Workman Realty and later Watson Realty for 25 years, retiring at age 82. He was a deacon and Sunday School director at First Baptist Church for many years. He was also an avid golfer and sports enthusiast who enjoyed volunteering as a starter and ranger at Queens Harbour and Hidden Hills Golf and Country Clubs. Ben was predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Jane, in 2009; his sisters, Maude Duckworth (Bill) and Sally Blackmon (Newell); and his brother, Jay, who died a prisoner of war in the Philippines. Ben is survived by daughters, Becky Wolfe Pitman and Nancy Wolfe Strickland (David); son, Edwin Wolfe (Sally); 10 grandchildren: Allyson Lakeman, Ann Suhs (Kurt), and Rob Pitman (Jennifer); Jenifer Worley (Steve), Tiffany Hilliard, Liz Rhoden (Brad), and Erin Marler (Brent); Brad Wolfe (Kary), Andrew Wolfe (Lashan), and Stephen Wolfe (Dana); 21 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends. The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 28, 2012, in the Hobson Auditorium at First Baptist Church, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Paul Murphy, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Park Cemetery. The family would like to express our gratitude to the many wonderful caregivers at the Atrium at Regency for their love and concern for our father over the past three years.
