NICHOLS, Betty Catherine Bullard finished her earthly pilgrimage on January 22, 2023 and began her eternal journey with her Saviour. Betty was born to Cauley and Kate Bullard, pioneer residents of Hamilton County, Florida, on June 26, 1930. She was reared in a large family, but a small community where she was taught that life was a gift of God and should be shared.
She was predeceased by her parents, five sisters (Harriet, Joyce, Bonnie, Alice and Lucille) and two brothers (Don and C.C.). After graduating from high school, she moved to Jacksonville where she worked as a medical-legal secretary. She was married to Don Nichols for 67 years which were the happiest years of her life. They were married in the home of her sister, Alice Carter, in Jasper, Florida, by their pastor, Dr. Homer G. Lindsay, Senior. After their marriage, the couple moved to Gainesville Florida where Don attended law school at the University of Florida. While there, Betty was secretary to the administrator of Alachua General Hospital. After graduation, they moved back to Jacksonville where Don began his law practice and where Betty enjoyed her love of gardening, landscaping, cooking and entertaining. She also taught Sunday School for 50 years. She sponsored many churchwide luncheons and a citywide Campus Crusade luncheon. She and her husband enjoyed many trips all over the world. She was happiest sharing her faith and her love for the Lord and spending time with her children.
Betty is survived by her husband, Don, two daughters, Cynthia, Julie (Scott), son, Craig, two sisters in law, Miriam Bullard Butler and Roslyn Bullard, and many much-loved nieces and nephews.
