Billy R. Thornton

He was born October 29, 1931 in Benson, North Carolina and passed away in Jacksonville, Florida, January 28, 2017.

He is survived by his wife Patsy, children Anita Smith (Anthony), Audrey Jones, Mary Lynn Maxey (Donald), James William Bush II (Lee), grand children William McClain, Rachael Bush, Samuel Goodson, two great grand children Robert and Ryan McClain, and many nieces, nephews and extended family in Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina.

Billy was the last serving member of his immediate Thornton family.

A service celebrating his life will be held 2:00 PM, February 11, 2017 at Hardage Giddens Funeral Home, 729 Edgewood Ave. South, Jacksonville, FL.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 5450 Ramona Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32205.

The family will be receiving friends after the service in the fellowship hall of Murray Hill Methodist Church, 4101 College St, Jacksonville (across the street from the funeral home).
