
CHARLOTTE, NC – Carole Mason Burke enjoyed her marriage, led church and community activities and poured a lifetime of love into her family. She had a beautiful life, and cherished it until the day she died on February 3, 2018.
Born in Jacksonville, FL on June 4, 1922 to Frederick Buffalow and Vashti Richardson Mason. She graduated from St. Petersburg Junior College.
Throughout the years, her life was filled with so much goodness. She enjoyed friends and family; she relished opportunities to entertain; always enjoyed a good party; enjoyed cooking and gardening; and was a devoted member of The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. She served on the Altar Guild and was President of the Women of the Church. She also was President of the Duval County Medical Auxiliary and of the Confederate Jasmine Garden Club. She moved from Jacksonville, FL to Charlotte, NC in 2015.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in law, Steven and Peggy Burke of Indian Land, SC, and Joseph and Martha Burke of Winter Haven, FL, her grandchildren David Burke and Allison Blackwell, and her great-grandsons Carter and Everett. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 64 years Charles Hulett Burke, MD, and her son David Alan Burke.
