Cesar Agusto Estrella, 79, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 15th at the Community Hospice Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring in Jacksonville, Fl. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Zoraida (Rodriguez) Estrella; his sons, Cesar Estrella Jr., Elias Estrella, Robert Estrella and Joseph Estrella; his daughters, Denise Hernandez, Maria Garger, Adelina Yordan, Ingrid Estrella-Chin, Carmen Estrella and Carolyn Estrella Aponte; 25 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren; as well as sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, cousins, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Cesar was born and raised in Palmar Salcedo, Dominican Republic, the son of Alfredo Estrella and Maria Mercedes Florencio. Throughout the years, he would return to visit his birthplace and reminisce with the locals about life in a small town during the 50s and 60s. Very early on in life, Cesar recognized that living in a small town availed him limited opportunities so after completing high school at the age of 17 he left Palmar and made his way to the capital, Santo Domingo in search of a better life. Once settled, he obtained a job as an apprentice to a local lawyer. As a result, he became adept at completing legal documents which served him well in later years. Cesar moved to the United States in 1965 and settled in Miami, Florida. A year later he decided to relocate to Brooklyn, New York, which is where he spent most of his life and raised his children. He became a notary public in the state of New York, assisting many individuals and their families with the immigration process and as a result countless people are now permanent residents of the United States. An avid reader, he would always read three newspapers a day. He also enjoyed reading political books and autobiographies about people who have made positive contributions to society such as Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. Cesar loved to write letters and was dedicated to writing to everyone he cared about on a regular basis. He also enjoyed traveling and visited Europe, Mexico and Canada on several occasions. He was an enthusiastic New York Yankees fan and would never miss a game on television. He was best known for his booming voice and great sense of humor. He has left a tremendous legacy demonstrating kindness, generosity and a strong commitment to family via his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will always live in our hearts and will be greatly missed. Funeral services provided by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home located at 11801 San Jose Blvd in Jacksonville, Florida on December 20th .
