

Charles “Chuck” Grant Eicher, II, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2014, after struggling with Alzheimer’s. He was born on July 23, 1931, in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Nolan and Katherine Eicher. He served his country honorably in the Army during the Korean War. Following his discharge, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology from West Virginia University. He was an avid golfer and 32nd degree Mason. On August 31, 1956, he married his bride, Doris Henry, and started a career with the railroad as a civil engineer that spanned more than 33 years starting with the B&O Railroad in Pittsburgh and retiring from CSX Transportation in Jacksonville after several mergers and 17 moves. Chuck is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Doris, and their four children: Susan Osborne (Bob), Robert Eicher (Laurie), Joan Eicher (Keith Radenhausen), and Christine Lepkoske (Andrew); four grandchildren: Laura Wiese (Matt), Christina Dean, Nolan Lepkoske, and Derek Dean; and three great grandchildren: Ella, Matthew, and Silas. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday (today), March 25th in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26th in Mandarin Presbyterian Church, 12001 Mandarin Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32223 with Pastor Nels Falk as Officiant, followed by interment in Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207.
