

Claire Watson Taylor was born January 10, 1931 in Orangeburg, South Carolina, to William A. Watson and Tressa Smoak Watson. She passed away on August 13, 2016. She is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Carey B. Taylor, Jr.; her son, Carey W. Taylor; her sister, Mary Watson Myers; and her brother, G. Keith Watson. She graduated from Lee High School in 1948. She attended night classes at Jacksonville Junior College, which is now Jacksonville University. She was a long time member of University Baptist church. She was a career employee of 34 years at The Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank, Jacksonville Branch.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Schroeder; grandchildren, Candice Bell, Christina Hensley, and Timothy Hensley; and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, William A. Watson, Jr., and sister in-law Carol Dyal Watson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. We personally thank Greg Polansky who looked out for Claire for the last seven years of her life. Also, thanks to Adji Gueys and Ester Gbande, who contributed many hours and days caring for Claire.
Services will be held at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel at 4801 San Jose Blvd. at 11am on Friday, August 19, 2016, with Reverend Jack Dinsbeer officiating. Family visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. There will be a private family burial at Riverside Memorial Cemetery on Normandy Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baptist Health Foundation Watson Juvenile Diabetes Endowment Fund, 841 Prudential Drive, Suite 1300, Jacksonville, FL 32207 or University Baptist Church.
