Clifton "Joe" Joel

DAY—Clifton Joel “Joe” Day, 55, passed away March 7, 2013. Joel was a Jacksonville native and an electrician by trade. However, he was known as a “jack of all trades” and never met a job he wasn’t willing to try. His favorite pastimes were fishing and hunting. Besides fishing and hunting, his other favorite “sport” was picking at those he loved and he was a master at it. Joel loved his family and friends and if he loved you, he loved you forever. His surviving family includes: his daughter, Jessica Day and her mother, Sandra Day; a son, Joey Shepherd; his mother, Faye (Jim) McMurry; his father, Jack (Linda) Day; 1 sister, Donna (Paul) Rice; 5 brothers, Randy Day, Garry (Donna) Day, Darryl Day, John (DeeDee) Merrell and Brian (Angie) Merrell; a grandson, Sebastian Shepherd and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 14, starting at 6:00 PM at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave. A Memorial Service will follow at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor John Harmeling officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made, in his memory, to the Jacksonville Humane Society.
