
Clyde "Wayne" Williams passed away on May 19, 2024, in his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. Born October 7, 1949, he was the first-born of five children to the late Clyde Oscar & Juanita Doris Williams.
In 1970, Wayne married his beloved wife, Sherry "Kay" Williams. Together they raised three children: Sherry (CJ) RuBright, Mike (Rana) Williams and Missy Williams.
An athlete and true sports enthusiast, Wayne enjoyed spending his free time coaching the local Little League and teaching his children how to play ball. He enjoyed weekend card games surrounded by family and friends, restoration projects on his home, riding his lawn mower around all day and sitting on the porch swing with his lifelong love, Kay.
Wayne's favorite role was grandfather, affectionately known as Papaw. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them sports, guitar, watching their ball games and keeping up with their accomplishments. He also cherished being a great-grandfather, spending countless hours laughing and playing with his littlest loves.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents, sister Melody Conant, brother Larry Williams, son-in-law Jason Binkley, grandson Joshua Everidge and great-grandson Justin Everidge Jr.
He is survived by his brother David Williams, also of Jacksonville, Florida, sister Annette (Dennis) Steele of Baneberry, Tennesee, and several nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his wife, children, grandchildren: Tyler (Crystal) Everidge, Lexi RuBright, Julia RuBright, Bobby (Amelia) Glattli, Gabby (Alton) Soles, Mikey Williams, Cheyenne Williams, Savanna Binkley, Jason Binkley Jr and Cole Binkley. Great-grandchildren: Grayson Everidge, Addy RuBright, Ryleigh RuBright, Wyatt Glattli, Gracie Glattli, and Olivia Soles.
A service to honor him will be held on June 8, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Heavenly Heights Baptist Church, located at 6680 Dunn Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32218.
