Connie Ruth Sloan

Connie Ruth Sloan, age 73, formerly of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away December 27, 2023 with the prayers and love of her family around her. Connie was born in Charleston, South Carolina where she attended North Charleston High School. She went on to earn her BA and MBA from Charleston Southern University, followed by a distinguished twenty-five-year civilian career with the US Navy. Her service included the Naval Air Systems Command at Patuxent River, Maryland and the Space and Warfare Systems Command in Charleston. She also spent four years in Jacksonville at the Naval Air Station for Naval Facilities Engineering Command and Naval Supply Systems Command from which she retired in 2010 as a Supervisory Contracting Officer.

Connie held a strong and enduring love for her family and her faith. She found joy in walking and exercising, spending time with her grandchildren, and shopping. She found strength in her family bonds, prayer and service to the church, and the support of her family and friends. Connie is survived by her husband, William Sloan; her daughter, Kristin Akins; her daughter Shannon Test (Michael); her son, Bradley Slone; her daughter, Leslie Arellano; her sister, Priscilla Grimsley (Leroy); her brother, Leander McDonald (Maxine); her grandchildren, Wade, Austin, Ryan, Aaron, Gregory, and Ella; and her many adored nieces and nephews. Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Wilma and Wallace McDonald, and her brother Harold.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at St. Theresa the Little Flower Catholic Church, 11001 Dorchester Rd., Summerville, South Carolina at 11:00am on Saturday, January 6, 2024.
