"Corky", Carl Gray Grubbs, Jr., age 66, of Jacksonville passed away July 22, 2020 at his residence. He was born November 6, 1953 in Winston-Salem, NC to Carl Gray Grubbs, Sr and Peggy Ziglar Grubbs. He moved to Jacksonville in 1963 with his family and attended Terry Parker High School. Corky worked in the coin operated machine industry. He enjoyed NASCAR Sundays, "The Grubbs Kids" lunch dates, card games and priceless phone chats with loved ones. He was predeceased in death by his beloved daughter Melissa Grubbs Overfield, his father and mother Carl and Peggy Grubbs. Survivors are his sisters and brother, Sharon Grubbs Ortagus (Mike), Cindy Grubbs DeSormeau (Mike) and Bradley Ziglar Grubbs along and his three grandchildren Joel Austin Overfield, McKenzie Davis and Noah Davis. He will be missed by his nephew and nieces James Michael Ortagus, Jr, Stacie Ortagus Phillips (Mark,), Andrea DeSomeau White plus all of their children, his cousins and many devoted friends including Mike Wood. The family will hold a private memorial service and Corky will be laid to rest in Winston-Salem.
