

BARTHOLF David A. Bartholf, 85, passed away on October 22, 2015. Born in Jacksonville, FL on March 6, 1930, was son of the late John F. and Gladys S. Bartholf, founders of the Bartholf Dairy originating in Cedar Hills. Mr. Bartholf was also preceded in death by siblings Betty Murphey, Seaward, Frank, Barbara (Bobbie) Atherton and Thomas.
He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida. Mr. Bartholf served in the U.S. Army and went on to earn his law degree from Stetson University College of Law. He interned as a legal attaché to Senator Tom Adams during the 1958 Florida legislature. He began his legal practice by joining the City Attorney’s office in Jacksonville and then joined the law firm of Hamilton & Bowden. Mr. Bartholf went into private practice of General and Family Law and was well respected by his dedicated clients with many becoming long-time friends.
For many years he was the commentator and host of “What’s The Law” television show that offered legal advice to the public. He was an avid golfer and volunteered as Captain Marshal for the 17th Hole (island) at the TPC at Sawgrass golf tournament as well as coordinating a team of marshals for 25 years. Mr. Bartholf was a loyal and generous member of St. Johns Presbyterian Church in Avondale where he enjoyed playing piano and attending Sunday school classes for senior members.
He was father of one daughter, Betsy Lyn Thompson and two sons, Thomas L. Bartholf (Blue Ridge, GA) and David S. Bartholf; he was grandfather of Katelyn M. Thompson, Betsy J. Bartholf and Thomas J. Bartholf. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 11am at St. Johns Presbyterian Church, 4275 Herschel Street, Jacksonville, FL 32210. Private Interment at Riverside Memorial Park cemetery.
