David George DeVries

Dave was a loving husband and father to his surviving wife of 45 years, Marilyn Ruth DeVries, and to sons Christopher (Jordan) of Kearney, Nebraska, and Eric (Susan) of Jacksonville, Florida. He is also survived by grandson Dakin of Kearney, sister Cordie Bochmann of Manteno, Illinois, and brother James DeVries of Bloomingdale, Illinois.

He was born and grew up in Blue Island, Illinois. He graduated from Eisenhower High School in Blue Island. Dave proudly served in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he completed his bachelor's degree at Chicago Teachers College (now Chicago State University).

Dave was a master machinist, working in mechanical research and development in the printing industry with R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company until his retirement and relocation to Florida. He was also an avid fly fisherman and keen sport pilot. Dave had a profound appreciation for God's creation in nature, whether it be on land, in water, in the sky and heavens beyond earth's skies.

The family requests that any memorial contributions in Dave's name be directed to Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church in gratitude for their faithful homebound ministry. Alternately, gifts may be directed to the Haven Hospice Foundation, designated for the Custead Hospice Care Center in Orange Park Florida, in gratitude for their compassionate care.
