

REED - David Carl Reed passed away peacefully of natural causes at age 68 in his Jacksonville, Florida home on February 7, 2018. David was born on July 13, 1949 to Walter and Gene (Dubose) Reed in Montgomery, Alabama. He is survived by his mother and three siblings, Danny Reed, Rebecca (Reed) McCleary, and Judy (Reed) Nelson, as well as his wife, Karen Reed, daughter, Melissa (Reed) Kennedy, son, Daniel Reed, son-in-law, Steve Kennedy, and granddaughter, Emma Kennedy.
David graduated from Albany High School in 1968 and received his Associate’s Degree from Darton Junior College in 1970. He also attended Valdosta State College. He joined the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. He married Karen Reed on May 12, 1978, and they were married 40 years. His previous occupations included being a manager at Pantry Pride (grocery store), operating a paper route for the Florida Times Union, and various technical support and customer service jobs at America Online and later Comcast. He was a pilot and had fond memories of flying in his youth. David was known for being hard-working and dedicated to his family. He had a special interest in photography and later developed an interest in model airplanes.
A Memorial Service will be held in his honor by Pastor Perry Fruscella at First Coast Christian Center (2724 New Berlin Road) on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 1:30 PM. His interment will be in his parent’s plot in Americus, Georgia. Arrangements by: Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Avenue.
