David was born on July 19, 1947. He was 76 years old. David is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Yvonne; his loving daughter, Nadia Joy, a second-grade teacher who resides in Seattle, Washington; his brother, Dan and wife, Tresha, and numerous cousins. David was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Louise and his father, Dell Hoke St. John, Jr. David, a fourth generation Jacksonville native, graduated from Englewood High School, joined the Air Force and served two tours of duty in Vietnam while serving his country. David loved animals. He had many great years with his faithful companion, Dusty, a golden retriever. David and Yvonne recently lost their sweet dachshund, Bogey. GK (garage kitty), a young cat David found and Buckman, a kitten that Yvonne rescued from the Buckman bridge, are still enjoying the comforts of David and Yvonne’s home. Lucy, a 2-year-old Afghan poodle, is a recent addition and provides lots of energy and love to their home. David was an avid, long term Florida Gator fan. Whether it be football, baseball or girls’ softball, David rooted for his Gators. David loved practicing and playing golf. His love of practice was demonstrated by the pitching net in his garage and the putting mat in the dining room. Both Bogey and GK enjoyed chasing the plastic golf balls that David chipped down the hallway. David looked forward to his weekly golf game with his regular golfing buddies. And, he enjoyed spending time practicing and playing golf with his younger brother, Dan. David will be remembered as a kind, big hearted, animal loving man who loved his wife Yvonne and cherished spending time with his daughter, Nadia. May God rest your soul, David. We love you and will miss you greatly.
