

David Robert Walker Sr., age 72, passed away Sunday morning, October 26th, 2014 in his home in Jacksonville, Florida, after a yearlong struggle with cancer. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on December 29th, 1941. The Bishop Kenny High School graduate (1960) received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising from Florida State University in December 1963. One year later, David was commissioned into the United States Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant, where he served seven years, specializing in news and broadcasting, and was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain.
Mr. Walker was a loving father and first time grandfather (known as “Grandy”, the name he affectionately called his grandfather). He was a talented artist, inventor, and traditional conservative. Known for his work in water color and portraitures, he had a keen eye and sense of natural beauty. David was raised in a devout Catholic family and attended Saint Michael the Archangel Church in Jacksonville, Florida. He was received into the Third Order of Saint Dominic taking the Patron Saint’s name John of Rivena.
David is survived by his wife Mary Anne Montoya Walker (Jacksonville, Florida) and their three children Cobourn Joshua (Sacramento, California), Rachel Christine Ogle (Stacy, Tallahassee, Florida), Alexander Paul (Jacksonville, Florida), and his granddaughter Emma Grace Ogle (Tallahassee, Florida). He is also survived by his first wife, Margaret Sandra Youngblood Walker and their child Amy E. Walker (Panama City, Florida), and his siblings Steve Walker Sr. (Joy, Jacksonville, Florida), John Walker (Elaine, Longwood, Florida), and Christine Magrega (Dennis, Vancouver, British Columbia). He is preceded in death by his parents Lillian Marie and Cobourn Cornell Walker (Jacksonville, Florida) and son, with first wife, David Robert Walker Jr. (Panama City, Florida).
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home 729 S Edgewood Ave Jax. FL 32205, where a public visitation and prayer service will be held Thursday Oct. 30 2014 from 6-8 PM. Requiem Mass will be celebrated Oct. 31, 2014 at noon in St Michael the Archangel Church, 1950 Bartram Rd. Jax. 32207, Fr. Marshall Roberts officiating; followed by interment with military honors at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
