Dorothy Lorraine Dibble, age 91, passed away peacefully June 13, 2021, surrounded by loved ones that will miss her dearly. She was born March 31, 1930 in Durango Colorado to George and Dorothy Young. She was raised in Princeton, Minnesota but moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1947 after she married.
Dorothy lived a life that honored Christ in all that she did; she was wise, compassionate, loving and caring. She had a heart for missions and soul winning. Dorothy often said that “the ground is level at Calvary” meaning Jesus died for all mankind and not for any specific race or color. She had many favorite scriptures but one of them was Psalm 40:8, “I delight to do thy will, Oh my God; yea, thy law is within my heart”.
Dorothy loved gardening and had beautiful flower beds. She spent many happy hours tending to them. She liked to crochet and knit and made many little outfits for preemie babies in the hospital; she left some unfinished projects for Becky to finish.
Dorothy worked many years for BellSouth in the Telecommunications Department. She handled trouble calls like a diplomat, with care and consideration.
Dorothy Dibble was the beloved mother of Peggy Williams (Howard), Becky Riley (Greg), Douglas Dibble and John Dibble. Cherished grandmother of Michael Williams (Selena), Misty James (Eric), Kara Crowther (Chris), Casey Riley (Rebekah), Shannon Yeager (Chad), Summer Shepherd (Daniel) and Shane Dibble (Nikki). Dorothy had 21 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She has one surviving brother Bob Young (Betty). Family meant everything to her; she loved and prayed for us every day.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers (Bill, George, John and Ronnie) and 3 sisters Mary, Peggy and Alice), son John Dibble, great grandson Corbin Crowther and great granddaughter Rachel Williams. There was a grand homecoming when she passed through the pearly gates.
Dorothy was a long-time member of Southside Assembly of God (now Lineage Church). She loved going into the house of the Lord and entering into His presence in prayer and song. It is her desire that we all see her once again on the streets of glory; be ready.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 1:00pm-2:00pm at Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207. Funeral services to begin at 2pm with interment at Greenlawn Cemetery following funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, our family suggests a donation to the American Cancer Society or Community Hospice.
