As the third of five children, Edna was born June 19, 1927, to Frank and Bessie Lewis in Bulloch County, Georgia, where she attended local schools and eventually met her beloved husband, Joseph Winton Cone. The couple moved with their two children to Jacksonville in 1960 with Atlantic Coastline Railroad (now CSX). Sharing a variety of interests and activities, Joe and Edna endeared themselves to many friends and neighbors throughout the years, including friendships in Sandy Crafters and the crafters’ community. While enjoying crafting, gardening, quilting, and reading, Edna was and exquisite seamstress. She shared her talent with others, doing so most recently by creating lap coverings for those confined to wheelchairs in nursing homes. Edna was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She was predeceased as a result of a tragic traffic accident by her son, Gregory, his wife, Madeline, and their two children, Jason and Aliya. Edna was also predeceased by her siblings, Franklin Lewis, Ruth Mize, Milton Lewis, and Geneva Nesmith. She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years and daughter, Wanda Christmann (Fred). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
