

It is with deep love and respect that we announce the passing of Edward Allen Mahaffey, a devoted family man, decorated veteran, and joyful spirit who touched countless lives with his laughter, warmth, and unwavering dedication to others. Edward passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy defined by courage, compassion, and kindness.
Edward served his country with honor for ten years as a proud member of both the United States Air Force and the Marine Corps. His distinguished military career included nine overseas tours, including service in Operation Enduring Freedom and Desert Storm. Throughout his time in uniform, Edward was widely recognized for his outstanding leadership, excellence in performance, and unwavering commitment to his country. His numerous commendations include a personal award from King Abdullah II, a testament to the international respect he earned through his selfless service.
Beyond his military achievements, Edward was a man of profound heart and humor. He found joy in life’s simplest pleasures—listening to music, experimenting in the kitchen, and dancing around the house just to make others smile. He had an unmatched ability to light up a room with laughter and was often found enjoying animated family favorites like The Croods and G-Force.
Above all, Edward was a devoted family man. He survived by his beloved wife, Adele, of 37 years, and his memory will be forever cherished by his daughter Megan, who lives in Nashville, along with his treasured granddaughters Everly and Ava. He is also survived by his loving siblings: Ralph, Denise, Paige, and Christopher, who will always carry his spirit with them.
A Memorial Service to honor Edward’s remarkable life will be held on May 3rd at 1:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207. Friends, family, and all who knew him are welcome to join in celebrating a life well lived.
Though he has departed this world, Edward Allen Mahaffey’s legacy of service, laughter, and love lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
