He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Roberta (Hodgson) Strickland III. Ed graduated from Winter Park High School in 1964. Affectionately referred to as “fast Eddie,” he lettered in both track and field. One of his track records lasted 10 years. He graduated from Florida State University in 1968 and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Commissioned as an officer into the Navy in June 1968, he completed flight school and primarily flew the P-3 Orion aircraft. His prestigious career concluded at the Pentagon where he served as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and for the Secretary of Defense.
After retiring from the military, he enjoyed working as a realtor for Watson Realty Corp., San Jose office. His passions included cooking, photography and building models. He was also an avid dog lover who would be seen frequently walking his golden retriever, Mosby, around his retirement community, Del Webb of Ponte Vedra.
