
Elise “Leesie” Knight Snell died after an extended illness on August 25, 2022. Daughter of Carol Finley Knight and Margaret Pope Palmer on September 17, 1940 in Jacksonville, Fl.
Leesie’s life revolved around her family, Real Estate business, and especially her God and Church. When her children were young she could be found on the soccer field, baseball field, driving carpools, selling houses or at Church. Her volunteer service was for the church, she was an active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church for 81 years. Her services included being a member if the Vestry, Coordinator and leader of Walking the Mourner’s Path, the Prayer Shawl Ministry, a Chalice Bearer, Hospital Visitor, Eucharistic Visitor, and the list goes on. She was an accomplished Realtor and made sure that her buyers were well informed even if it meant talking a young first-time buyer out of a house that would put them in over their heads.
Leesie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, The Reverend Canon Robert S. Snell and her parents, Finley and Peggy Knight. And daughter-in-law, Lisa Dyer Burgstiner. She is survived my her children, Katherine Burgstiner Mabry, William Augustus Burgstiner III.(Sarah), and Michael Scott Burgstiner (Miko) and step-daughter Janice Snell Clifton. Her grandchildren, William Augustus Burgstiner IV, (Michelle), Emory Speer Mabry V, Margaret Jordan Mabry, Michael Alexander Burgstiner, Michael Scott Burgstiner, Jr. and Sarah Morgan Blanton Burgstiner. and her great grandchild, the special sparkle in her heart, Madison Elise Burgstiner. She is also survived by her siblings C. Finley Knight Jr. (Virginia), A. Palmer Knight (Maria) and Susan Knight Chunn. She had 8 nieces and nephews and 16 great nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 4129 Oxford Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32210 on September 8 and 10:00 am, with burial in the St,. Mark’s memorial garden. In lieu of flowers, Leesie asked that memorial contributions be made to St. Marks Episcopal Church or Daniel Memorial, 4203 Southpoint Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32216.
