Elizabeth was born on January 8, 1922 in White Oak, North Carolina, daughter of Charles Maxie Davis and Amelia Clyde Underwood Davis. She remained a resident of the beautiful state of North Carolina for her youth, graduated from White Oak High School, attended East Carolina College and transferred to Pineland Jr. College where she graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Business. She then moved to Wilmington, N. C. where became employed by Atlantic Coast Railroad and met her husband, Ernest Julian Busch. After having two children, she became the Executive Producer of the family. The family ultimately relocated to Jacksonville, FL in 1960 with ACL RR and her husbands' employment.
Elizabeth enjoyed family life in Florida, garden club activities, the neighborhood bridge group and church involvement at Arlington Presbyterian Church, where she was an active member for 59 years. She also returned to work at JEA for several years, retiring in 1979. She had a true love for music and was gifted with the unique talent to play the piano by ear. When a new Beatles song came out, she could listen to it just once and was instantly able to play the entire song in full cords on the family antique foot pump organ.
She is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Ernest Julian Busch (2006), her parents, brother, Henry Jennings Davis and sister, Maxine Davis. She is survived by her son, Charles Ernest Busch of Seffner, FL, her daughter, Daphne Busch Miles of St Johns, FL, husband, Craig Hazard Miles and their son/her grandson, Jonathan Craig Miles. The family would like to extend a sincere thank-you for the outstanding care given Elizabeth while hospitalized at Baptist Medical Center South in Jacksonville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be sent to the Jacksonville Alzheimer's Society, the American Heart Association or Baptist Medical Center South for their new pediatric ICU.
