NAIL—Elizabeth Roberson Nail, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Sunday, June 13, 2010. She was born and reared in Jacksonville, Florida, graduated from Andrew Jackson High School and attended Florida Junior College and Jacksonville University. In 1968, she and her husband moved to Keystone Heights, where they both lived until their deaths. She retired from the Duval County School System, having served in Norwood Elementary, Kirby-Smith Junior High and Andrew Jackson High School. In addition, she was the organist and choir director for Norwood Presbyterian Church, Northminister Presbyterian Church, Keystone Heights Community Church and Faith Presbyterian Church, Melrose. She and her late husband, William A. (Snug) Nail served for several years as Assistant State Director, and State Secretary for the Florida Good Sam’s Clubs and enjoyed sharing their love for camping with others by beginning many new chapters of Good Sam. Her love for her Lord and for people was demonstrated by her faithful service to the many churches she attended during her life. In addition to her music ministry which included a bell choir, she served in various offices, as well as serving on the Session, as an Elder, and as the Clerk of the Session for the Presbyterian Church, (U.S.A.) Gifted from birth with an extraordinary talent for music, she began playing the piano in Sunday School before her feet could touch the floor from the piano bench. In addition to playing in church, she was always willing to provide music for anyone who needed it. Weddings, funerals, parties, programs and impromptu gatherings around the piano were a joy for her. Even in her later years, her physical therapy sessions finished with a few hymns at the piano. An excellent mother, wife and sister, she was never too busy to stop and listen, share a recipe, or come to the aid of her family. She was the epitome of the Proverbs Woman. She is survived by her daughter, Glenda N. Huntley (Jim), and her two sons, William Arlis Nail, Jr. and Rev. Daniel Allen Nail, a brother, Col. (Ret.) John F. Roberson (Mable), seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at Faith Presbyterian Church, Melrose, Florida on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 11:00 am. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be made to her two favorite Presbyterian ministries: Thornwell Home for Children, P.O. Box 60, Clinton, South Carolina, 29325 or Columbia Theological Seminary, P.O. Box 520 Decatur, Georgia 30030.
