Elizabeth D. Thorne

Elizabeth “Lizzie” D. Thorne, 94, of 973 Piney Grove Church Road, Kenly, NC died peacefully in Jacksonville, FL on February 13, 2011. Ms. Lizzie traveled routinely to Florida and North Carolina during the last six years with her Son, as she made many new friends.

She was the daughter of the late Henry and Martha Lucas Deans and a native of Wilson County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, I. Clifton Thorne.

Mrs. Thorne is survived by her daughter, Geraldine “Jerri” Hinnant and husband, Jeff of Kenly, NC; son, Richard A. “Rick” Thorne of Jacksonville, FL; grandsons, Joe & Cindy Hinnant, John & Kathy and Jeff & Kim Thorne; great-grandchildren, Joanna and Joy Leigh Hinnant, Josh and Jacob Thorne, Susanah and Scarlet Thorne and the families of her two late sisters, Nolie Narron and Minnie Cuddington.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, TODAY, February 15th in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 18, 2011 in First Free Will Baptist Church of Wilson, NC, conducted by the Rev. Wayne King. Interment will follow in Contentnea Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
