

LINN - Ellen Elser Linn, Beloved Wife, Mother, Nanny, & Friend Ellen Elser Linn went to be with Jesus peacefully at home with her faithful husband, John G. Linn, by her side on May 5, 2021.Ellen graduated from Bishop Kenney High school in 1965. She went on to nursing school and graduated with a Master’s degree in Nursing from Crawford Long Nursing. Ellen served as a nurse at Memorial Hospital from 1987 until her retirement in 2003. Ellen received the Nurse of the Year Award from Memorial Hospital for three consecutive years. She was a gifted caregiver, teacher, and friend to many in her chosen profession. Ellen is survived by her husband John G. Linn, her Sister in Love- Betty Elser, her Daughter Jennifer (Rev. Mark) Smith, and her two sons, Jason Lederman (Kristen), and Jonathan Lederman (Naomi), along with her 7 Grandchildren, John Smith, Anna Godwin (Julian), Kevin Smith (Alexandra), Max Smith, Jackson Lederman, Gillian & Kherington Lederman, and 1 Great Grandchild (Oksana Marie Godwin.) Ellen had innumerable dear friends, most especially GySgt Virginia Coyle Richey U.S.M.C. (Steve) who aided in her daily care for the past 5 years. She was preceded in death by her parents Franklin & Eleanor Elser Jr., and her brother Franklin Elser III.
Ellen loved to fish and travel with her husband. Her most memorable trip was a cruise to Alaska with her husband John and school friends Jim & Margie Hazelwood. Ellen was a part of an International Medical Missions Team to an orphanage and school in Haiti. She was described by life-long friends Dr. Kevin & Mrs. Betsy O’Connell as “vibrance personified.” Those who knew her admired her quick wit, grace for sacrificial giving of herself, and generous gift for lavishing her chosen friends with love and loyalty beyond measure. She never expected anything in return. Her family and friends are humbled and honored to have known this gem of a woman. While we are grateful for her freedom to peace in Jesus Christ her Savior and Lord, we will miss her in unfathomable depths. We will cherish her with love, laughter, and fond remembrances as she would have wished. Visitation will be held at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home at 940 Cesery Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32211, from 5 – 7 pm on Tuesday May 11, 2021. A Celebration of Life service will follow at a later date.
