Elsie Swisher

Elsie Marie Swisher “Elska”, Born August 4, 1925 and went to heaven peacefully in the arms of her son, Robin on August 20, 2011. She was a resident of Jacksonville, Florida. Elska was born and raised in Melsele on the outskirts of Antwerp, Belgium. She dedicated her life to nursing and worked in many hospitals tending the sick and injured with compassion and empathy.

She was one of seven children born to the late Joseph DeCleen and Josephine Daelman-DeCleen, and was the beloved wife of Marion D. Swisher for over 63 years. Elska will be forever remembered by her loving sister Carry Colbert, beloved children David and Robin, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her. Elska loved listening to classical music, playing the piano and guitar, Golfing, Tennis, and being with family and having fun with friends.

Elska touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity, and maintained her open heart all the way to the end. A visitation will be held Friday, August 26, 2011 from 6-8pm at the Hardage-Giddens Hendricks Chapel. Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral Mass at 11am Saturday 27, August at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, located at, 6320, Bennett Road, Jacksonville Florida. with Father Michael Larkin officiating
