

CREWS: Elvin Barton Crews, 80, passed away August 24, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 18, 1934 in Alton, Missouri. Barton was a faithful member of Mandarin Baptist Church, he retired from GM Corvette with 32 years of service and was a Master Mason in Blue Lodge 73. Barton was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle Marie Crews; his parents, William and Leona Crews; and two brothers, Sherman and Grover Dale Crews. Surviving are his daughters, Donna Helvey and Sherry (Eddie) Snipes both of Jacksonville, Beverly (Scott) Pool of Enterprise, AL. Barton also left seven grandchildren, Steven (Erin) Helvey, Jennifer Helvey, Brittany, Bo, Trevor Snipes, Nathan and Kailey Pool; four great grandchildren, Laila and Nevaeh Helvey, Liyah Harris and Estella Ayala. He is also survived by one brother, Leroy (Shirley) Crews of Alton, MO; six sister-in-laws, three brother-in-laws and countless nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be held at eleven o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at The Oaklawn Chapel with Dr. Dan Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd, 32257. HARDAGE-GIDDENS, THE OAKLAWN CHAPEL, 4801 San Jose Boulevard is serving the family.
