

Ester Orciga Simons, 59, passed away on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2020 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born on September 10th, 1960 to Teodoro and Loreto Orciga in Masoli Bato, Camarines Sur, Philippines. Ester had four brothers (Basil, Gildo, Sixto, and Victor) and five sisters (Dolores, Maria Elena, Maria Estrella, Florencia, and Celina). From a very early age, Ester took the initiative to help provide for her family members. During grade school, she took gap years to work as a nanny, so her older sister could go to school or assisting her parents with their farm. After graduating college, Ester was employed as a Recovery Room Registered Nurse in the Philippines. Several years later, she moved to the United States with her siblings to achieve their “American Dream”. After getting married, she and Speedy had two beautiful children and she gained two incredible stepchildren. Later, they moved to Florida to acquire her Licensed Practical Nursing certification. Ester had a passion for tending to her garden, taking walks on the beach, and reading God’s word. If you had the pleasure to get to know Ester, she was the most kindhearted, generous spirit who always helped those in need. Ester was very dedicated to pleasing the Lord by attending church, leading Sabbath school, and ministering to the public. She gave back to the community by serving the geriatric population for 22 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Ester had a strong and reliable support system, especially during the last few months of her life. Ester’s faith in the Lord gave her strength and courage to endure the tremendous trials; therefore, she was at peace despite her illness. Ester is survived by her husband of 27 years William “Speedy” Simons, children Ellen O. Simons, Andrew O. Simons, stepchildren William Stacy Simons, Jodi Melissa Awer and stepgrandchildren Jayla, Aden and Shiloh. Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207 is serving the family. Memorial service will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 4050 Barnes Rd South, Jacksonville, FL 32207
