Florence B. Floyd

Florence Betz Floyd passed from this life on Sunday, January 9, 2011. Florence was born in Long Island, New York on July 19, 1923. She met her husband, Lester Carroll Floyd, Sr. while she was serving in the navy during World War 11. Lester was in the Marine Corps when they met. They were married on August 12, 1945 in Jacksonville, Florida. They lived here their entire married life. They had two sons, Lester Carroll Floyd, Jr. (Marsha) and Gary Thomas Floyd (Kim). Florence's husband and oldest son pre-deceased her. She is also survived by her brother, Frederick Betz and her grandchildren, Kevin Floyd, John Floyd (Rachel), Matthew Floyd, and Amanda Fisher (Brad). Florence was a 4-H leader for 14 years. She helped raise turkeys on the family farm and gave many school tours of the turkeys during the fall. She was written up in the Mandarin paper for her feeding of a wild hawk. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, January, 16 2011 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 17, 2011 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, followed by interment in Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville Fl 32207.
