
Frank Rodriguez M.D. resident of Jacksonville Florida passed on February 12, 2022. He was born in Alhama de Almeria Spain on Jan.1, 1936. He received a Bachelors of Science Dean’s List degree at the City College of New York and a Dean’s List degree from the Complutense University of Madrid Medical school . He completed his surgical internship at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey. He completed surgical residency at Monmouth Medical Center and at the University of Florida Medical School in in 1971.
He was instrumental in the development of the field of emergency medicine and founded the original Emergency Medicine group at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida. During his career he was president of the Baptist Hospital Emergency Room in Jacksonville Florida and maintained a private practice as a general surgeon.
Above all titles or personal recognitions he always stressed what he truly valued was the fact that he was able to exercise his life long dream and vocation of being a physician, a career that lasted over fifty years. His only driving force was the self fulfillment and joy he received from treating and caring for his patients.
Dr. Rodriguez was an avid student of History, Philosophy and various subjects. He wrote articles in medical journals, poetry, novels and essays. He enjoyed music, nature, the mountains, sports, gardening, and cooking. He is survived by his wife Raquel, his children and family members.
Private burial service was held at Oakland Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church March 26, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Community Hospice and palliative care.
