He grew up in Rockwell City, Iowa, and in the 6th grade he met his childhood sweetheart. Gale graduated in 1964 and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1965. After serving honorably for four years, he remained in Jacksonville, Florida. Gale worked for Southern Bell and in 1981 had a daughter (Amy Anne Hendricks). In 2006, he married his high school sweetheart (Jean Powell Hendricks). Gale’s absolute passion was anything car related. He loved racing his sprint car, repairing and restoring classic cars, spending his time in the garage. Gale’s number one supporters were his loving wife, Jeanne; and his family.
