
Gary Francis Joseph, 63, died on Thursday, December 22nd, 2016, surrounded by his family. Gary was predeceased by his parents, Joseph M. Joseph and Frances B. Joseph. He was a native of Jacksonville, Florida, graduated from Wolfson High School and from the University of Florida with honors. He received his law degree from Nova University College of Law. He practiced law for 34 years serving as an assistant public defender for Duval County, commercial litigator, civil traffic hearing officer, and Special Master for the City of Jacksonville. From a young age, Gary was an avid golfer and athlete. He enjoyed landscaping and painting in his spare time, as well as spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Claudia Hawkins Joseph; two sons, Tyler Anthony Joseph (Lindsay), and Bryant Andrew Joseph; as well as four brothers, George M. Joseph, Richard W. Joseph, J. Michael Joseph, Jr., and Raymond B. Joseph; and many relatives and close friends.
The family will receive friends at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida on Monday, December 26, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Father Mark Atkinson will officiate at a Memorial service on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 7801 Lone Star Road.
