George Ewing Floyd, 74, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010. Mr. Floyd was a native and lifelong resident of Jacksonville and had retired from Occidental Petroleum Corporation and his own trucking business. George was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Loretta Salis; son, Roy David Davis; two granddaughters, Kelly Ann Carlill and Rita Louise Salis and one great-grandson, Draven Lee Carlill. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Louise G. Floyd; six children, Steven Floyd (Kathy), Lori Hodge (Keith), Shawn Varnadore (Ronnie), Tammy Harris (Robert), Christie Ryals (Timothy) and Kimberly Vu (Hung); one sister, Celeste Wade (Robert); one brother, Randy A. Stevenson; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a beloved aunt, Lillian Courson in addition to numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as his lifelong friends Donald Johnson and Pete Hood. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, May 28, in the chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Avenue. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The pallbearers will be seven of his grandsons. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral Home.
