George Linkenback peacefully passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 while trying to rehabilitate at the Terrance of Jacksonville. He was 94 years old. George was born in Miami Florida. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Navy. This gave him opportunity to see the World. But, he found the love of his life in South Florida. He was married to Jeanne Linkenback for 62 years. Although she preceded him in death by six years, he never forgot his true love. George and Jeanne had two sons, Albert Linkenback and George Linkenback II both of Jacksonville. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Sean, Thomas, and Sandy Linkenback and a large extended family. Originally from Miami, George and Jeanne moved to Jacksonville in 1992. After Jeanne passed in 2002, George remained head of the household in Mandarin. As a true southern gentleman, his grace and charm endeared him to all. Friends and relatives may pay their respects at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home from 11 am to 1 pm on Thursday, June 11. The family will hold a private graveside service at Mandarin Cemetery.
