

Gerald is survived by his beautiful wife, Minnie Burch (O’steen) his daughter Audrey Burch, step children, step grandchildren and a step great grandchild, his sister in Lexington, Alabama and brother of Jacksonville, Florida and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Gerald was born in Athens, Alabama on July 8, 1929, and lived in Lexington, Alabama during his childhood. He served in the United States Navy for 4 years as a machine operator. Gerald served on the USS Robert K. Huntington.
He and his wife, Minnie attended the Assembly of God Church. Gerald loved serving the lord and meeting new people, he was proud of being a Christian and that showed in his passion while working at the church over the years.
The simplest pleasures in life brought Gerald great joy, he never met a stranger and loved talking on the phone. His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met. He had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities. Gerald had a passionate love affair with food and sweets.
Despite his pain, Gerald came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. His love of life didn’t come to an end with his death.
A graveside service on August 16, 2021, at 1pm at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Fl. 32218 (Lane #2)
