On August 28, 2017, The Rev. Dr. Gloria Kennedy slipped away from this world and into the arms of Jesus after a valiant fight with colon cancer. Gloria was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on June 5, 1941, to James R. and Myrtice W. Kennedy (both deceased).
Gloria spent her entire life serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She worked her way through college, earning a B.S., an M.S., and a Ph.D. in Psychology and Counseling. She retired from Logos University where she served as a professor and academic dean.
Gloria was an ordained Episcopal priest (CEEC). She served at St. Luke's Episcopal Church until the time of her death. Many received salvation through her humble and devoted ministry.
Gloria is survived by her brother, James Andrew Kennedy (Linda); three nieces; her beloved godson, Mark Ingram; and her best friend, The Rev. Judi Howell.
A celebration of Gloria's life will be held on September 9, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 2961 University Boulevard, North. The officiants will be Bishop Charles Travis and The Rev. Canon MigueI Rosada, M.D.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church or Community Hospice.
