Guy Kenney Denney

DENNEY -Guy Kenney Denney, Jr. passed away on August 19, 2018 after complications he sustained from an accident in 2006. Kenney was a kind soft spoken man with a caring heart and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was a man of great character and strength. Kenney married Darlene Carlton, his soul mate and the love of his life in 1983. Family was his life. Kenney and Darlene faced many adversities in their life together. The true strength of their marriage was shown after the birth of their daughter Heather and the struggles and heartaches for her survival in life. The core of Kenney’s character was seen after his near fatal accident in 2006. Most men would have given up, but he persevered through unimaginable pain and suffering with a smile and fighting spirit. He passed on his compassionate traits and qualities to his loving son, Corey, who was his caregiver for the past 3 years. His fighting spirit will live on through Heather who through her own challenges has demonstrated strength and tremendous courage.

He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Denney, Sr. Survivors include his devoted wife Darlene, son, Corey Denney (Jennifer), daughter, Heather Rothrock (John), grandchildren, Alexis, Nathan, and CJ, mother, Mary Grier, sister, Denise Saslona (Brian), brothers, Jeff Denney (Cyndi) and David Denney, sister-in law, Karen Schuran (Gordon). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 6 pm with visitation 4-6pm at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be given in his memory to First Coast No More Homeless Pets or Community Hospice.
